Positive thinking: smiling

Here are two videos our classmate Milagros,in group 2E suggested. It's a nice positive story, and it is in English (with Spanish subtitles):

Sunday 9 October 2011

Do you love me? A story full of questions.

When Susan phoned David to ask him if he loved her, she didn't know that this was the beginning of "A Story Full of Questions".

The first part of the story began on the phone, and this was their dialogue, written by Jeremy Taylor (which I asked you to re-write):

"Do you love me?" by Jeremy Taylor

David tried to contact Susan a couple of days later, when he realized that he really loved her and wanted to prove it to her. He phoned her, texted her and emailed her but there was no reply. He went to her house on several occasions, but nobody came to the door.

Then, he had an idea: he wrote a song for her and recorded a video which he uploaded on YouTube in which he answered her question in a very poetic way, using more questions. He expected her to watch it and forgive him.

Here is the link to the video and the lyrics for the song.

Unfortunately, Susan didn't see his video and she never answered back. She moved to another country and forgot David after some time.

The funny thing was that his video went viral and the song became very popular, and even Susan finally heard it, not knowing it had been written for her. One day, when she was driving to the supermarket, she decided to sing the song herself and record it on a video but it was a foolish idea and the consequences were fatal. Her husband, who found the camera, decided to upload her video on YouTube as a tribute to his lost wife.

When David saw it and recognised Susan singing his song, he tried to contact her but he could only contact her husband, who told him about the accident.

It was then when David's mind filled with lots and lots of unanswered questions.

Note: David and Susan are not real people and this story was inspired by Jeremy Taylor's dialogue-story "Do you love me?" and made up in order to practise questions in English. The song was written/composed by Cole Porter and the first version belongs to an album called "Red Hot + Blue" which was a tribute to him in which famous singers and bands reinterpreted his songs for a good cause, raising money for the fight against AIDS. The man who appears in the video is Roddy Frame, singer in British group Aztec Camera. Finally, the lady who sings in the car calls herself Madden Heiress, a woman with a beautiful voice who likes recording herself while singing, sometimes in potentially dangerous situations, something which inspired the tragic ending for the story.
